Mr. Herbert is a principal of Ostergaard Acoustical Associates with 30 years consulting experience in architectural acoustics. His projects include all types of built environments, from small recording studios to concert halls: open offices; auditoriums and meeting spaces; music practice, rehearsal and performance spaces; classrooms; hotel environments; historic renovations.

In conjunction with each architect-client, Herbert established project acoustical goals and developed recommended measures to meet the goals:

Interactive Learning Center, Sinclair Community College, Dayton, OH
Assisted the architects with all acoustical issues on this premier interactive learning center in the U.S.

Concert Hall, Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester, New York
Assisted the architects with room shaping, selection of finishes, isolation of exterior sounds, and achieving low HVAC sound levels for this well-received new hall.

Bell Atlantic Headquarters, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Assisted the architect with office and board room acoustical issues, including design of masking sound systems for 13 floors of open offices.

South Carolina Statehouse Historic Renovation
Worked with the architects to upgrade acoustical conditions while adding new air handling systems.

Bruton Education Center Video Production Facility

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, Virginia
Set acoustical goals and identified construction and noise control methods for a large studio and adjoining control spaces. Provided acoustical design for a renovated auditorium.

Northeast Corridor Connection /Newark Monorail, Newark, N.J.
Designed a train platform public address sound system to meet quantitative speech intelligibility goals.

Auditorium Renovation, Xerox Corporation, Rochester, New York
Carried out acoustical tests to evaluate existing conditions and to identify characteristics requiring upgrading during renovation.

High School Auditorium Renovation, West Orange, New Jersey
Worked for the owner on programming and implementing a complete gutting of a 30-year old facility into a state-of-the-art environment for theatrical rehearsals and productions.
