Expert in Architectural Acoustics

Mr. Herbert is a principal of Ostergaard Acoustical Associates with decades of consulting experience in architectural acoustics. His projects include all types of built environments, from small recording studios to concert halls: academic buildings; open offices; auditoriums and meeting spaces; music practice, rehearsal and performance spaces; classrooms; hospitality environments; historic renovations; and health care facilities.

• Performing Arts Center Acoustical Designs
  Mr. Herbert has led the Ostergaard team for well-regarded performing arts centers. These include the Concert and Recital Halls for Roberts Wesleyan College, The Trexler Pavilion for Muhlenberg College, The John Harms Center (now Bergen PAC), and the South Orange PAC.
• Healthcare Acoustics
  Projects include New York Presbyterian Hospital Surgery Department renovations including simulation laboratories; McLeod Medical Center ICU Tower, Florence, SC; Kettering Medical Center Eye Surgery Suite, Kettering, OH; Pathology Laboratory, University of Rochester Medical Center.
• Academic Project Consultations
  Projects include the Simons Center at SUNY Stony Brook; Connelly Center and Pavilion Renovations for Villanova University; Chemical Research Building for Columbia University; and a feasibility study for the Eastman School of Music.
• Office Acoustical Designs
  Lead acoustician for many state-of-the-art open plan offices, including the 620,000ft² Firstside Center for PNC Bank and projects for organizations including Boston College, Eastman Kodak, Saatchi and Saatchi, Xerox, and the Port Authority of NY & NJ.
• Laboratory Acoustical Designs
  Provided consultation on new laboratory facilities for Brown University, Binghamton University, Harvard Medical School, Arco Chemical, Corning Glass Works, Ingersoll-Rand, and Philip Morris.

  South Carolina Statehouse; NYS House of Representatives; Celeste Bartos Forum, NY Public Library; College Hall and Furness Library, U. of P.; Ellis Island; and Victoria Theatre, Columbus, OH.

  Mr. Herbert has consulted on hundreds of schools and is currently the lead acoustician for dozens of New York City School Construction projects. For the NYC School Construction Authority, he developed the acoustical aspects of the NYC Green School Guide and contributed to Architectural Acoustics Design Requirements for NYC Schools.
