Dr. Erdreich is a principal of Ostergaard Acoustical
Associates offering expertise in the physical and
perceptual aspects of acoustics. His 30 years of
experience include occupational noise control, warnings
audibility, interference of noise with normal activities,
and speech intelligibility. He oversees day- to-day
operation of Ostergaard Acoustical Associates.
Following a position as a professor in the Ear,
Nose and Throat Department at the University of Oklahoma,
he joined the National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health. As Chairman of the Noise Task
Group, Dr. Erdreich helped formulate the national
strategy for reducing occupational noise-induced
hearing loss. At the University of Cincinnati, he
taught courses in noise control and acoustics and
directed graduate dissertations concerning noise.
He has published articles relating to hearing, psychoacoustics,
and vibration. He also has taught Architectural Acoustics
at the NJIT School of Architecture for several years.
REPRESENTATIVE PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Regulatory
Activities.
Developed enforceable municipal noise
ordinances which allow industrial and commercial
activities while protecting noise-sensitive residential
activities.

Land use development.
Involved with private and municipal developers
to qualify projects for approval for Federal funding
through the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

U.S. Court
Facilities.
Developed and wrote performance oriented
guidelines for the U.S. Courts Design Guide. These
allow the architect and the owner to understand
the implication of design decisions on the ultimate
speech intelligibility or privacy within spaces.

Environmental impact
study.
Modeled noise emissions from a proposed
400 MW Coal Gasification Power Plant situated
within 900 feet of residences. Developed noise
mitigation to meet strict New Jersey nighttime
noise limits.

Prepared numerous HUD
site assessments including development of noise
mitigation to qualify projects for Federal
support.

Designed public address
and warning system for manufacturing facility.
